The last decade of my life has been infused with a sweet and nourishing love of yoga. This enchantment began as most things in my life do: quickly, passionately and with a lot of instant fire. In one of my very first classes I asked the teacher “how do you learn to teach this?” because I knew that someday I would. I remember folding into pigeon pose and being completely amazed at the feelings I was experiencing. I started taking yoga classes because I was dealing with chronic back pain – at just 19! In those first few classes I realized that yoga would help me and heal me in more ways than that.
Since that time I’ve studied Classical Ashtanga Yoga at Salt Spring Center of Yoga and Anusara Yoga with Robin Golt & Barrie Risman. With Robin and Barrie my love of Alignment-Based Hatha Yoga flourished and I continue to refine my understanding of the body/mind/heart Self and its many mysteries.
I am an experienced teacher-of-teachers, having co-founded the first Yoga Alliance approved 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training program in Newfoundland & Labrador. In 2015 this program is in it’s 4th consecutive year. In addition I teach a weekend-long Chair Yoga Teacher Training and am involved with various continuing education programs.
In 2009 I co-founded a full service yoga studio called Shakti Yoga Studio in St. John’s, NL which I operated for four years until I felt the call of a more family-centered life.
